This year’s winner was KLAW industries, KLAW Industries, a waste glass processing startup which turns glass sent to landfills into a cement replacement for concrete called Pantheon™The KLAW Industries team is based at Binghamton University in New York and was represented by Jacob Kumpon and Nicholas Walling. This year’s cash prize pool was more than $110,000, with the top prize originally set for $50,000, but the overall winner took home $100k after Goetz matched the top prize of $50,000.
The Koffman Southern Tier Incubator, managed by Binghamton University’s Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships, announced the return of the Opportunity Grows Cannabis Accelerator, a free four-week remote learning program beginning on May 3.
Out of over 400 student-led startups to apply, KLAW Industries has been selected as one of 42 startups that will pitch in the Rice Business Plan Competition taking place April, 7-9. More than $1 Million in investment and cash prizes is expected to be awarded to the teams at the 2022 RBPC.
