Those curious to hear how innovation is driving New York’s clean energy economy had the chance to chat (online, of course) with Mike Jagielski, the new clean energy program director at the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator. The #MeetMikeNYSERDA Twitter takeover went live on April 1st and featured Mike answering community-submitted questions about his background, the local business ecosystem and all things clean energy.
NYSERDA supports six clean energy business incubators strategically located in the heart of cleantech clusters in New York state for easy access to market, talent and commercialization support. Since 2009, New York state has invested $28 million in NYSERDA-sponsored incubators. The Koffman Southern Tier Incubator in Binghamton, NY received $1.7 million in funding from NYSERDA. This funding assists the Southern Tier Clean Energy Incubator (SCI) program which leverages research and development resources at Binghamton University as well as regional relationships to offer a full suite of mentoring, networking, training and technical support to new clean energy companies.
Michael (Mike) Jagielski joins the team with over 30 years of experience working with CEOs of companies ranging from SMB to Fortune 100. He previously chaired Micatu Inc., which was the “grand prize winner” of the inaugural 76West Clean Energy Competition, and served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer for the last 8 years. Mike is considered an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the areas of Big Data Analytics, Solution Sales Methodologies and Business Monetization Strategies with a successful track record of bringing new technologies to market.
Mike has served as an Advisory Board member for the Koffman Incubator since its inception. As the Program Director for the Southern Tier Clean Energy Incubator, a NYSERDA supported program, Mike utilizes his passion for mentoring entrepreneurs to rapidly expand the presence of clean energy businesses budding in the Southern Tier. Mike is excited to help move clean energy technologies to market and to support an ecosystem where members can leverage the extraordinary network of resources available from Binghamton University, the incubator and the Southern Tier. Through this network, Mike will help to ensure commercial success, create jobs and increase the critical presence of clean energy locally, nationally, globally.
