The annual New York State Business Plan Competition (NYSBPC) is one of the nation’s largest venues for student entrepreneurs to pitch their ventures, refine their businesses and win cash to move their idea forward. Regional competitions are held to determine the strongest companies which then move on to the final round where they are up against statewide competition.
Regional pitches kicked off in Binghamton, NY with companies from Binghamton and Cornell Universities. A total of ten companies were accepted into the Binghamton regional semi-final competing in six categories ranging from Food to Energy to MedTech.
Those nervous about pitching caught a break this year due to pitches being held online, rather than the typical in-person setup. Over videoconference, contestants had ten minutes to run down their slides in front of a panel of judges and spectators. Judges then recessed to determine the strongest competitors in each category.
The ten regional winners listed below will move on to compete against the statewide competition.
