New Energy NEw York
New Energy New York (NENY) is an initiative focused on making New York’s Southern Tier a leader in clean energy, particularly in battery technology and energy storage. Powered by a coalition of academia, industry, and government, NENY aims to create a thriving ecosystem that drives innovation, workforce development and economic growth.
The Koffman, managed alongside NENY by Binghamton University’s Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships, plays a crucial role in this effort. It provides essential resources including workspace, technical support and mentorship to clean energy startups, particularly those focused on battery and energy storage The Koffman also supports NENY’s mission of commercializing new technologies and fostering startup growth.
Central to NENY’s goals is the development of a complete supply chain for battery manufacturing, from research to commercialization. Through collaboration and strategic resource utilization, New Energy New York is positioning the state as a global leader in energy storage innovation.
New Energy New York STudent startup experience
The NENY Student Start-Up Experience connects clean energy startups in New York State with top student talent, offering specialized support in areas like marketing, engineering, and IT–completely free of charge. Eligible startups gain access to a database of qualified interns and can choose candidates that align with their needs. Internships can be conducted in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format, providing flexibility to match your operational preferences. Students can commit between 5-20 hours per week during Fall and Spring Semesters. Summer opportunities are also available.
NENY Chargeup Accelerator
NENY’s ChargeUp Accelerator is a 6-month accelerator program that supports startups developing emerging solutions in the battery and energy storage space, across the entire value chain, by advancing their technology commercialization and investor readiness. $25,000 for participant support is awarded for participants meeting in person for one week each month for regional exploration, network building and guest speakers ChargeUp is a rigorous curriculum that will help your company become investment-ready by mastering business due diligence, design for manufacturing, managing complex supply chains, product pricing and other topics, led by industry veterans
